REID MARTIN WINS EVERETT MEN’S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

Reid Martin used a final round 4 under par 68 to capture the 2009 Everett Men’s Amateur Championship. The 36 hole tournament played the first round at Walter Hall Golf Course Saturday and the final round at Legion Memorial Golf Course on Sunday.

Martin from Mukilteo started the final round tied for 3rd place after a 1st round 70 and was 3 shots behind Everett’s Brian Barhanovich who opened the tournament with a 68 at Walter Hall GC. Martin quickly fell to 4 back with a bogey on the 1st hole of the final round, but birdies at holes 5, 7 and 9 for a 2 under par 34 on the front nine combined with a 1 over par 37 for Barhanovich had them tied with nine holes to play. Birdies on the back nine at the par 4 12th and par 5 15th and 18th holes were enough to give Martin a 4 stroke victory over Barhanovich who finished with a 75 and Oak Harbor’s Eric McCardle who closed with a 69 for the 2nd best score of the day. Kris Jackson of Everett, Seattle’s Chad Valley, Mukilteo’s Mark Strickland and Chris Pladsen of Snohomish finished in a 4 way tie for 4th at even par 144.

Reid Martin, a stand-out player for Mukilteo’s Kamiak High School and the 2008 4A State high school Champion was playing in his last tournament in the northwest before leaving for college in two weeks to attend Auburn University in Alabama.

Tee Time Phone Numbers and Website Tee Times

It is easy to make tee times at Legion Memorial and Walter Hall Golf Courses. Tee times can be made for up to one week in advance over the phone at 425-259-GOLF for Legion Memorial and at 425-353-GOLF for Walter Hall. You may also make advance tee times from one to fourteen days in advance day or night on the web at Everettgolf.com. If you have not used the website to make or change tee times, give it a try. It’s quick, easy and you can do it whenever you want!

Note: With the longer days in the summer, please be careful to double check if you have chosen an AM or PM tee time when making your tee time online. Example, if you are making a 6:00 tee time, make sure you don’t accidentally select a 6:00 PM time when you wanted a 6:00 AM time!
