The 19th Hole Newletter

From Our New President
Hello Fellow Golfers:
As your OVGC President for 2009, I want to begin by welcoming you all to a new year of golf events. Although my golf experiences are wild and varied, I've played steadily at Walter Hall for about 25 years. I am passionate about golf and golf's life lessons, having started as a hacker; improving to a 5 hdcp and finally becoming OVGC Club Champion in 2007 -- a goal I never thought possible.

My newest goal is to help all members enjoy the Club, the Course, and the camaraderie of our competitions. Let's all play in as many tournaments as possible while having fun as well as playing Ready Golf! (you will play better).
Thanks,
Brett (Lefty) Engstrom

Your Secretary Needs Backup Help
Anyone with moderate writing and computer skills would be of help. This job is an important one for our club. Primarily, the Club's Secretarial responsibilities are to kieep the minutes during our monthly meetings, maintain a roster of all active members and make this Newsletter three times a year.

Your current Secretary has become very involved with family and work over the last couple of years and is concerned that some unforeseen emergency could leave our club in a lurch.

Notes From Outgoing President...Terry Cressey
Thanks guys and fellow golfers. You are the best club around and it's been a pleasure running your club for you. I'm looking forward to helping Brett and Ron out with our 2009 Season. These two, Brett Engstrom and Ron Sisko, will do a great job for all of us; especially if you help them out and volunteer whenever you can. Our Club is strong because of all the help we get during the Season as well as during our off season, so become a "real" member and get involved.

Also remember to submit and pay your application for membership before our Season begins and also pay on time for each Event to avoid the $5 Late Fee. This will really help make our Tournaments run smoothly and it will also help Ron and our Pro Shop avoid Tee Time mistakes and other misunderstandings.

Again, thank for the many years of golf friendships and camaraderie and I look forward to many more with our Club. Happy Holidays to all and see you in 2009.
Terry L. Cressey

Report from our Senior Tournament Chairman
My wish is that you all had a happy and joyous Holiday Season and with the beautiful snowfall you have kept yourselves safe and sound.
Thank you all so much for making our Senior Golfing Events a big success during 2008. We did not have to cancel any tournaments during the year and this was done because of your continued loyalty to our Sr. Group.

We expect 2009 to be another great year with our events already scheduled and ready to go. The list and dates of events are posted on our Senior Bulletin Board and inside this Newsletter with the first event on April 1st 2009! "It's not an April Fools joke!"

I look forward to seeing you all then!
Moe
