The Joe Richer Golf Club provides an affordable opportunity to learn and play golf for junior golfers of all income levels and ability. One of the larger youth golf programs in Washington State, the program is named in honor of Joe Richer, who bypassed a possible career on the pro golf tour in favor of a lifetime of teaching, counseling and coaching Everett area youth. He touched thousands of young lives in his 3 decade tenure at Everett High School before passing away at the early age of 55. A foundation set up in his name helps provide funding for the club and aids with financial assistance for individual junior golfers if funding is not available to participate.
The club is divided into two groups, The Players Club and Players in Training. Open to youth ages 8 to 18. Outside the program a junior golfer must be at least 12 years of age to play Walter Hall or Legion Memorial Golf Courses without an adult accompanying them. The Golf Professional staff may waive the minimum age requirement to play the course or play without an adult with proven golf and etiquette skills and golf maturity as may be demonstrated in this program.
18 Hole Division: Accomplished to advanced golfers ages 12 to 18 enjoy opportunities to build social networks and further strengthen their games through friendly competition with weekly play and events on the regulation 18 hole golf course. There is a $10 fee for each weekly event**. Instructors offer tips on managing the game, tournament play, swing mechanics and rules and etiquette during weekly clinics prior to play. (Tue. Clinic 10AM / Play begins 11:00AM)
9 Hole Division: New players to intermediate players advancing into the Players Club from the Players in Training will play 9 holes from the “Play It Forward Tees” (a shorter course) with volunteer parent supervision until they have proven success and ability to move up to 18 holes. There is an $8 fee for each 9 hole weekly event (Tue. Clinic 10AM / Play Begins 11:30 depending on the number of participants).
** (There is no weekly event fee for those with a 90 Day Pass.)
Beginning to intermediate golfers learn the golf skills, mechanics, rules and etiquette necessary for success on the course. Weekly 60 minutes clinics and play on the practice area par 3 courses offer a great way to learn the game. As the individuals become accomplished enough for advancement, they may challenge their way into The Players Club through demonstrated skills on the course. (ages 8 - 14 at 9:00AM & ages 12 – 18 at 10:30AM) All play will be at Legion Memorial on the par 3 practice course and all clinics will be at Walter Hall on the practice area.
Applications are available at Legion Memorial Golf Course, Walter Hall Golf Course, The Parks and Recreation Office and by the links at the top of the page.
